Greetings All,
Let's talk about having enough.
Enough is a really big deal.
It has boundaries.
It has borders.
It almost has some geographical properties.
ENOUGH is when you open the pantry and you have what you need to make the meal you want to make.
ENOUGH is when you have the ability to have choices about what you can cook.
ENOUGH is when you use the last of the toilet paper and you don't panic cause there is another roll left.
ENOUGH is when there is gas in the car and you don't have to anticipate if you can get somewhere without running out.
ENOUGH is when you need to go the doctor and can pay the office visit charge right then.
ENOUGH is when you can share whatever you have without causing harm to your own family or self.
ENOUGH is comfortable.
But there are other places: TOO LITTLE and TOO MUCH
TOO LITTLE is when you reach for something and it is not there.
TOO LITTLE is when you are hungry...be it mentally, physically, emotionally, socially, or faith starved.
TOO LITTLE is when you look at others and yearn for things you see them with.
TOO LITTLE is sad, and lonely, and desperate sometimes.
TOO LITTLE and TOO MUCH are close cousins.
TOO MUCH is when things begin to overflow and you have no place to put them.
TOO MUCH is when you feel entitled and lazy...mentally, physically, emotionally, socially... and when you grow lethargic in your faith.
TOO MUCH is when your possessions, or your job, or your life begins to get too heavy for you to bear.
TOO LITTLE and TOO MUCH are difficult geographic places to thrive in.
God, thank you for ENOUGH.
Please keep us from TOO LITTLE and TOO MUCH.
Thank you for loving us and blessing us.
Help us to share your love with all we meet.
AMEN
In Him,
Grace
Can a Christian Teacher survive and thrive in a Public High School? Can she balance faith, family, friends, AND work? By God's grace,YES SHE CAN! Welcome to Graces' kitchen. Get your coffee and pull up a chair. I hope you enjoy reading grace_underpressure2011. The name GRACE is an alias I am using because of the need to protect the privacy of my students, colleagues, friends and family. Using this alias just seems prudent to me. Thank you for coming to see me today! Come back soon.
The Reward for Surviving Rough Seas
We are all like sea shells tossed about in rough waters and being re-shaped in wondrous ways. But have you ever contemplated the notion that sea shells have to complete their journey through the rough waters before they get to rest on the shore? Yeah, we are ALL like sea shells and Heaven is The Great Shore.

Come On Christmas Break!
Greetings All,
There will be other Christmas's when I pour on the High Energy...but I hope that this year is a soft and gentle one...my soul needs it
"Just a handful of days to go."
In Him,
Grace
Do you remember being a school kid who could hardly wait for Christmas Break?
I do!
My husband and I are like that EVERY year...right along WITH our students.
WE are just as ready as THEY are.
As a matter of fact, I think that TEACHERS are even MORE ready for school to be out than the KIDS are. Kids only do "public school" for their allotted K-12 years, but I did "public school" for all the years when I WAS a kid, PLUS well over 20 years sitting on the other side of the desks. That's alot of Christmas Breaks to wait for.
I've been a Kid and I've been a Grown-up.
I can speak from both perspectives.
I can speak from both perspectives.
And I can testify that my Grown-Up Self generally wants Christmas Break WAAAAY more than my Child Self ever did.
"Just a handful of days to go."
"Just a handful of days to go."
We teachers chant this to ourselves as we drive to work.
We teachers chant this to our colleagues between classes.
We teachers chant this to ourselves as we drive home from work.
We basically mutter this mantra till folks think we've "gone round the bend!"
But somehow it seems to help lol.
This Christmas I have a list of things I want, but there's not much on my list that you can actually buy
Things I want during Christmas Break:
-to wake up and realize that I don't HAVE to go anywhere at all
-to wake up smelling cinnamon buns and coffee
-to wear flannel pj's all day long while sitting on the sofa covered in a quilt
-to read for several hours and not feel guilty
-to have a good fire going in the fireplace every day
-to have enough food & supplies in the house to keep us satisfied & safe
-enough extra to share with those in need
-health & safety for my family and my friends
-a sense of peace and serenity
-to be still for a couple of weeks
"Just a handful of days to go."
In Him,
Grace
