But have you ever contemplated the notion that sea shells have to complete their journey through the rough waters before they get to rest on the shore? Yeah, we are ALL like sea shells and Heaven is The Great Shore.

Is Our Focus Out of Whack?

Greetings Everybody,
Got a photo I want to share with you and then a few thoughts afterwards.  Here ya go.
I took this photo in Yellowstone National Park a few years go.
I knew when I looked at this one that I really liked it. 
I dig the contrast of the blues & greens and how the whole nature scene 
is just so peaceful.


(BTW...I am so very aware that MOST of you folks take much better pictures than I do with my little 
"Point & Shoot Kodak" ...lol...but still, I like sharing my pictures with you)


Anyway, I like this one for many reasons, not the least of which is that 
it reminds me that sometimes "I Get My Focus Out of Whack".


True enough, the flowers are correctly focused in this photo; no blurring.
But the photo calls for the viewer to focus so intently on the small flowers 
that we really don't pay attention to the HUGE boulders on the horizon.


And isn't life just like that.


We get so caught up in the right here and now.
We give so much importance to what is immediately before us, 
that we fail to see exactly how small and how fleeting the 
"here and now" really is.


This flower had a very short lifespan...like what???
Maybe a week?  2 weeks tops???


I think we can all agree the blooms lasted for only a fleeting Season of Time.


But those the boulders on the horizon have probably been around since 
those mountains were formed, which means that we are talking 
about Geological Time here.


A Season of Time versus Geological Time?
Big Difference.
but not as big a difference as...
 Today's Cares vs. Eternity!


We as humans, tend to think that what is going on RIGHT NOW is so very 
big and so very very very important!
Yet whatever it is, it will only last for a Season of Time.


No matter now long it is...it is Fleeting compared to God's time.


He is the one who created the Heavens and the Earth


"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1


...which means that means HE is OLDER than the Heavens and the Earth.


Later He created mankind.


Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” Genesis 1:26


There is GREAT discussion over how long this process took.
And though our scientific knowledge has increased tremendously,
there are still many things that we do not know.


As an aside...
Perhaps I should go ahead and acknowledge 
"The Elephant Who Just Waddled Into The Room" 
...His Name is 
THE BIG BANG THEORY


He generally causes a ruckus wherever he goes.


People either throw roses at this elephant or throw rocks at him depending on their personal belief systems.


We hear it all the time...


THE BIG BANG THEORY vs. CREATIONISM


But I have long wondered WHY people disregard the possibility that 
A CREATOR might have USED a BIG BANG in order to Create this Earth.


God could very well have done that ya know!!!


But very few people TALK about THAT possibility.
Many point to Geological Time as evidence that the Bible is flawed.
Others ignore Geological Time as if they have to choose The Bible over Science.


Pssttt, What IF?
WHAT IF God designed DNA and has a pretty good grasp of Science? lol
WHAT IF God invented the things that Science attempts to study? lol
WHAT IF choosing to believe in GOD does NOT mean that you discount Science?


Meanwhile the Elephant seems to be waddling out of the room toward some place where he can make more of a ruckus...lolol


So, continuing with my thoughts prior to 
The Elephants' arrival...


Scripture tells us that God's time flows differently than our time.



"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."2 Peter 3:8-9


Basically it goes like this:

1.  The lifespan of a flower is brief.


2.  The lifespan of a human is usually much longer, and may in some cases 
even exceed 100 years.


3.  But what's a hundred years compared to Geological Time?


4.  And what is Geological Time compared to GOD's TIME?


Too often we get our focus out of whack and forget to pay attention 
to what is really important.


We think too much about the "here & now" and forget to think of "eternity"
 ...mostly because we can not fully comprehend it.


Instead, we need to guard our thinking and purposefully tune our minds 
to think of things worthy of His Eternal Kingdom.

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble,
 whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." Philippians 4:8

There is a time to focus on the flowers in the field
There is a time to focus on the boulders on the horizon.

But MOST of the time we need to focus on the 
ONE who created them BOTH.
